Eric Chelle, Super Eagles head coach has hinted he’ll be making some adjustments to his team’s selection ahead of Tuesday’s final group game against Congo, at the ongoing Chan tournament.
Speaking during Monday’s presser, Chelle admitted that his team was culpable in their two losses to Senegal and Sudan, and has taken responsibility for their lackluster performance against their opponents.
He however charged his players not to relent in their oars against Congo, stating they must show their qualities and avoid mistakes in Tuesday’s game.
“For this game tomorrow, they’ll be changes because we already lost two games and we need to change some things. We take responsibility for losing our first two games, we gave five goals because we made a lot of mistakes, it’s difficult for us mentally, because in reality, the tournament is done for us.”
“Tomorrow is a game we can try to forget our mistakes, really the past games have been difficult for my players but if you’re a professional, you have to stay focused and be in a good state of mind to win games. This is the time for the players to show their qualities and avoid mistakes and exposing their weaknesses.” He stated.
Captain of the team, Nduka Junior said they’ve picked up their pieces and are focusing on the last game, expressing gut they wouldn’t want to be defeated in the last group game and go back home empty handed.
Nigeria will face Congo on Tuesday and will be aiming for her first win of the ongoing 2024 Chan tournament in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
