‎Daniel Bamaiyi, Nigeria U20 national team captain has stated that the upcoming WAFU-B U20 Boy’s Cup championship is a must win that will shape the team’s mentality ahead of the start of the tournament billed for Ghana.

‎Speaking after their training session, the Bayelsa United defender said the focus will be on Nigeria, being the only team from the WAFU-B region that’ll be playing at this year’s world cup in Chile, emphasizing it’s a serious and an important tournament for them as a team.

‎”We are taking it as a very serious competition because of the fact that we are the only team going to the world cup, and that’s what makes it a must win tournament for us, hence, the reason we’re preparing very hard to deliver in Ghana.”

‎”This tournament will help to shape the team towards the world cup. We will not disrespect our opponents because no country is small in football anymore, they want to be at us when they face us, and that’s why we’re declaring this competition a very serious one.” he said.

‎The Flying Eagles are billed to depart it’s Abuja camp base for Ghana on Monday.

‎‎The team will face host country, Ghana and Benin Republic in Group A. While Cote D’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic and Togo will be battling it out in Group B for the 7 nations tournament which will start on the 10th-24th July, 2025, in Ghana.
