Top Tier Sports Management has entered into a landmark ₦40 billion partnership with the Nigeria National League (NNL) and the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), set to run for the next 10 years.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Top Tier Sports Management, Mrs. Chichi Nwoko, described the investment as “just the beginning,” stressing that she believes there is still much work to be done.
According to her, the partnership is driven by a deep-rooted passion to redefine and elevate the sporting narrative in Nigeria. She revealed that her inspiration comes largely from her two children, whose love for football continues to fuel her commitment to the game.
“My drive is purely born out of passion. My two children are my biggest inspiration. They are fans of Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively, but their shared football idol is Austin ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha,” she said.
Mrs. Nwoko further disclosed that clubs will receive ₦200 million at the end of every season, with the first five years serving as a trial phase for the partnership.
Reacting to the development, NNL Chairman, Chief George Aluo, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a positive step forward for Nigerian football. He assured Top Tier Sports Management of transparency and accountability throughout the duration of the agreement.
“We thank Top Tier Sports Management for believing in the NNL. They will be working closely with us, and we assure them of transparency throughout the lifespan of this deal.
What we are witnessing today is also a way of appreciating the Nigeria Football Federation. The confidence reposed in us will not be taken for granted,” he stated.
On her part, NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, hailed the partnership as a major milestone for women’s football in Nigeria. She emphasized that the collaboration would empower the women’s game and set it on a path toward commercial viability.
“We are grateful for this partnership. It represents a significant milestone in empowering women’s football. We are committed to making the league commercially viable. This is just the beginning of a fruitful relationship that will transform the landscape of women’s football in Nigeria,” she said.
The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, also praised Mrs. Nwoko for her timely and decisive investment in Nigerian sports. He commended her vision, resilience, and leadership, expressing optimism that the deal could eventually be reviewed upward to a ₦100 billion sponsorship.
The event attracted key stakeholders from across Nigerian football, including administrators and officials, with the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in attendance alongside other dignitaries.
