Newly appointed head coach of Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national football team, (The Falconets) Moses Aduku, has stated that his girls will be mentally ready to beat Rwanda when both teams meet in their 2026 world cup qualifiers scheduled for September.
Speaking after Wednesday evening training session at the FIFA goal project of the Moshood Abiola national stadium, Abuja, Aduku acknowledged that Rwanda is a good team, but remains optimistic they’re beatable.
He expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Football Federation for considering him for the job, and has vowed that Nigeria will see a reformed Falconet team with better composition and a dynamic structure under his reign.
“I want to begin by thanking the NFF for the opportunity to serve. First I’ll like to say, Rwanda is not a bad team, but they’re beatable, so all plans is geared towards putting our girls in the right frame of mind to go through this stage.”
“I want the girls to have it in their minds that we can win all games, and I want to assure you that Nigeria is going to see a different set of girls playing for the country this time around by the grace of God.”
Nigeria will face Rwanda in the second round of the FIFA U-20 women’s world cup qualifiers in September.
The overall winner over the two-legged encounter will play either Senegal or Algeria in the third and the final round of the qualifiers for a chance to play at next year’s world cup in Poland.
