After rejecting the chance to link up with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal, Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen is reportedly a fresh target for Ruben Amorim and Manchester United, according to dailymail.co.uk/sports.
The 26-year-old, after scoring 37 goals in 41 games in Turkey, on loan at Galatasaray, was offered £25.3million a season by Al-Hilal after they agreed to pay his release clause.
But Osimhen, who according to Football Italia prefers to stay in Europe, turned down the offer, despite Al-Hilal’s effort to bring him on board for their upcoming Club World Cup campaign.
They had an initial approach for the Nigerian turned down, ultimately agreeing to pay a €75 million (£63.2 million) release clause valid for clubs outside of Serie A.
But latest reports emerging from Old Trafford suggests that Ruben Amorin sees Osimhen as a viable possibility for the Manchester club, in their bid to rebuild and aim for European glory next season.
With Napoli widely expected to sell their striker this summer, interest in Osimhen has been substantial across a number of clubs.
’Victor is, for me, the best striker in the world,’ said Eric Chelle, Osimhen’s manager at international level, told BBC.
’For him it is difficult to come for this game because he played a season with a lot of pressure.
’The reality is there is a transfer window. During this time, a player like him is not focused at 100%.
’Maybe a club like Manchester United. Or maybe Chelsea, Barcelona or Real Madrid. So he needs to be focused on that.’
