Oluwatosin Blessing Demehin, Super Falcons defender, says the team is physically and mentally ready for the task ahead in the 2024 Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The Galatasaray of Turkey rock solid defender stated this while expressing her optimum readiness to grace her first ever WAFCON tournament for Nigeria.
Demehin who pulled stout defending in a pre-WAFCON friendly against Portugal where they played a goalless draw, said the Justin Madugu’s ladies will maintain an optimistic and a proactive mindset, with the aim of going into the tournament to reclaim their lost glory.
According to her, treating every match with the same level of focus and intensity, regardless of the opponent will be their motive, bearing in mind that if team’s like Cameroon fails to qualify, they have no reason to disrespect any opposition.
“We are going to Morocco to reclaim our lost glory and bring the trophy back to Nigeria,” Demehin said.
”For me everything is possible if you try, I believe this present squad are always ready to play and give their best to make every game count.
”We will approach every game with the mentality it deserves and not disrespect our opponents. For teams like Cameroon not to qualify for the tournament, it shows that no team will be an easy ride.
”We are physically and mentally ready for the challenge ahead of us.”
The 23-year-old former Reims player was part of the Falconets to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
She was also part of the Falcons’ squad to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
The former Rivers Angel backliner, also made the squad to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
